Yesterday marked the final day of rehearsals before the season starts for ABT. The studios themselves have been a faraway place for me over the past month but I've made my way up there to visit my friends a few times. I thought I should try to squeeze in one more visit because once Met starts everyone scatters to their own corners of backstage and the chances of me catching everyone in one go will be slim. It's a strange sensation walking into the studios and seeing people standing where I should be standing and seeing their names up on the casting where I would normally see mine. After saying hi to people all around the building I gathered Jackie, Blaine and Marian together to grab lunch with me and catch me up on the latest happenings about 890 Broadway.
(I look a little surprised, like a beaver bit my toe or something. Guess it's just been a while since I've been in front of the blog-o-cam.)
I can tell that I'm going through Met withdraw on all levels because I had a bizarre dream about it last night. After entering the stage door of the Met I hopped in an elevator with a few friends and it whisked us away with the speed of an amusement park ride, while normally the Met elevators are irritatingly slow. Once we fell to the bottom of the chute I emerged from the elevator and found things as normal in the windowless studios hidden in the basement. When I walked into the studio I approached the teacher and informed her how I had been ill then weaved my through the crowd to make it to my barre spot. My right hand reached out to take the barre and start plies when suddenly I passed out and fell to the floor stopping the class in its tracks. Moments later I regained consciousness but quickly ran out of the studios, embarrassed by the spectacle I had created and flustered at my health....and then I woke up. It's time for me to start dancing again.
That moment is still indefinitely in the future so until then I need to find ways to occupy my time. After a month of movies, reading, My Space (you can now be the blog’s friend! Check out the link on the right side of this page...), and monotony I thought I might give puzzles a try. Who knew that finding a decent puzzle would be so hard? Specialty stores always catch your attention until you need one so I ended up going over to Kmart to pick one up. I figured if I couldn't find a good one, I might as well get the absolute tackiest one I could find. Here it is...
ohh I LOVE jigsaw puzzles, I haven't done one in a while but i used to spend hours and hours doing these massive 1000+ piece ones. Then I started doing the smaller ones face-down. Watch out or your back and your neck will get really sore. But as for buying them, you should check online--I know there are sellers of really good ones on the internet though I can't remember any names. Google ought to do the trick.
