Today when I came back from seeing "Knocked Up" for the second day in a row (yes, it's that good) I was thrilled to see a nice package sitting on my kitchen counter. Seeing as it was from Arron Scott, it should come as no surprise to me that he had wrapped it artistically in spray painted cardboard and a rubber band web. As if the packaging weren't exciting enough, the contents of the disc inside is a wealth of riches chronicling the past two weeks at the Met. Seeing these pictures is rather difficult as I begin to nurse myself back to health and itch to be back doing ANYTHING physical but I'm still hoping I'll at least make it into a few small parts by the end of the season. Either way it is great to see the smiling faces of my colleagues surviving through the madness that is Met Season. Here are a few pictures (all by Sir Arron) documenting the last few days of "La Bayadere."
(Even before going to stage we have to scan the costume racks for our costumes which are methodically organized by our wardrobe guru's. The racks line the dressing room and have designated spots for each member (where's my name?!) for all of our different parts.)
(The doors on either side of backstage beckon you in with their eerie lighting. Walking through them usually brings a sense of elation at the prospect of going on stage although there is the occasional tinge of fear.)
(I see no trace of fear in this gorgeous shot of Arron as Bronze Idol. I am assuming that, even though extremely talented, he wasn't able to take this picture of himself. Or is he magic?! Almost naked? Yes. Magic? Probably not but pretty damn close.)
(Meanwhile backstage....Roman's baldness does crazy things to his brain as Alex and Matt flank him for some symmetry.)
(Intent on proving he can carry a shot by himself, Roman's death stare almost melts the camera.)
(Closer to death than death stare, Sascha rocks his Lead Fakir costume one last time before everyone waves goodbye to "Bayadere." I really hope he keeps this hair, it's just so flattering. It kind of reminds me of Whoppi Goldberg's triangle fro in "Sister Act" except I think that was even bigger.)
wow! "Knocked Up" twice in a row? That's like when I first saw Rent on tour in San Diego...I went back the next day to watch it again.
Arron must've been a great idol...what is that gold paint? It looks toxic but very theatrical :)

If my memory serves me correctly (I haven't really been around for Bayadere since my first season) the gold paint takes about an hour to get on and almost as long to get off. It leaves some little marks everywhere but stays on pretty well. I wish I was able to show the video I have of Arron doing it because it's wonderful!!!!!
GO SEE KNOCKED UP :-)

I wish I lived in NY so I could see Bayadere! I bet Arron Scott was fantastic as the Idol. Do you think you will be able to do any of the Met season?

I'm actually in the middle of figuring out if I will be making a return to the stage this season or not. Unfortunately it's not entirely up to me but I will keep everyone posted about whether or not I will be back. If I do make it back, it will be for VERY small parts in the last three weeks.
We'll see.
I have ALOT more pictures to post so get ready everyone! :-)

Think of the poor dancer who has to wait until 10:30 PM to do his 2-minute solo, then has to wait around for calls, and then has an hour's worth of gold paint to take off before he can even start for home . . .

Upload to RapidShare!!!!

I'd love to rapidshare it larry, unfortunately it's just VERY illegal to tape things from the Met so I have a feeling it would be better if I don't get involved in it :-)
Putting videos like my snow pas (or possibly some mercutio footage from florida) up is one thing, Arron doing bronze idol with abt at the met is quite another. He has sent me some very fun videos that I wish I could share! Am I being evil now with all this temptation? Sorry.
