For those of you who have ever doubted my devotion to Bernadette Peters: behold the recently unearthed drawing I created when I was four years old. You may have thought I was embellishing my childhood for blog punchlines; I assure you...it's all true. Every frightening drawing of it. (Just in case it isn't clear, this is Peters in her final Act Two costume as the Witch from Into the Woods. Obviously.)
this is brilliant.

I can see definite influences from Picasso and Basquiat. The blob between BE and RNDADETTE is a masterly touch, a clever and subtle deconstruction of the subject's name. The use of straight lines, whether horizontal, diagonal, or vertical, is near-miraclous. Are you looking for a gallery in Chelsea to represent you?

I had the distinct pleasure of witnessing a 4-year old Matt Murphy performance to an entire Bette Midler album. I felt extra special to be the only one in the audience. (I think your mom had already seen it a few times.) I couldn't take my eyes off you. You were adorable.
