DECEMBER 13th: "35mm"

35mm, a musical exhibition featuring my photographs and Ryan Scott Oliver's music, will premiere as a concert reading on Monday, Dec. 13th (7 and 9PM) at Urban Stages, directed by Daisy Prince (original productions of Songs for a New World and The Last Five Years).

The reading will star Alex Brightman, Lindsay Mendez, Jay Armstrong Johnson, Carrie Manolakos, and F. Michael Haynie.  We're totally excited, and you should be too!

The Young Guns Come Out To Play

Last weekend five of the city's most promising choreographers presented works during the Young Choreographers Showcase at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center.  Curated by Emery Lecrone (who also debuted a piece), the evening featured works by Avi Scher, Ja'Malik, Zalman Grinberg, and Justin Peck.  Here are a few images from the event!

The Queen of Tap

Michelle Dorrance is one of the best tap dancers in the world.  There's no other way to put it.  I've been fortunate enough to know this incredible woman for the past six years, yet until yesterday I'd never worked with her as a photo subject.

Anyone that knows Michelle can attest to the fact that her energy is boundless, engaging, and infectious.  Needless to say, it was a joy to work with her. 

 

 

"35mm" Reading Makes Us Giddy

We started rehearsal for an upcoming reading of 35mm, a new musical written by Ryan Scott Oliver and based on some of my photographs.  More information coming soon, but for now...a couple of shots from today.

Preview: The Becca Stevens Band

A few months ago I had the pleasure of shooting the luminous Becca Stevens, a New York City-based singer/songwriter.  We got some great shots working together in Riverside Park, but knew we needed to get back together so we could include the full band in some images for their upcoming album. 

Planning a shoot with one person is difficult enough to coordinate, but with five schedules involved it's nearly impossible to nail down a time.  Fortunately we were able to execute the shoot earlier this week (at a moment's notice) amidst the marble tables and plethora of couches at The Bourgeois Pig.  Here are a few of the shots!
