Worked with Morgan Karr yesterday and we finished out our shoot on the Highline. Probably the most enjoyable portion was the crowd of onlookers that gathered as Morgan paraded around in his pink fur suit; I'm pretty sure most of them thought he was a performance artist.
For those of you who aren't die hard musical theater fans, let me translate the title of this post. That's the music of "Jason Robert Brown and Georgia Stitt (performed) by CAP 21 and Broadway Stars." Quite the evening at Hunter College this past Monday, where Brown and fellow composer Georgia Stitt were honored and proved why by enlisting a slew of high-profile performers to sing their fantastic material. Jim Caruso's Cast Party--a Monday night staple at midtown's Birdland--headed to the other side of Times Square a few nights ago and took over Town Hall. The night was an all-star event featuring legends Chita Rivera and Liza Minnelli along with Broadway stars Christopher Sieber, Karen Ziemba and many more. I was backstage for the first part of the show (unfortunately I had to leave just as Liza with a Z was entering the building), and captured the following images which I'm thrilled to share today.

This past October I had the chance to shoot my first Broadway show: the wonderful, twisted musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, written by Alex Timbers and Michael Friedman. After playing the Public last summer, BBAJ sat down at the Jacob's Theater, where it ran until Jan. 2nd. Now I'd like to share some shots!

Every October New York is home to more new musicals than open in the other eleven months combined. Thanks to the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF), theater fans can get a taste of the next big shows before they make their way to Broadway.
I'll be shooting many shows during the run of the festival, and the first up on my list was "The Great Unknown," a wonderful new musical by Jim Wann and William Hauptman. Set in 1869, the show tells the story of brothers who lead an expedition down the Colorado River in search of the Grand Canyon. The cast is uniformly fantastic, but none moreso than Broadway's Tom Hewitt, who leads the crew as John Wesley Powell.

Photographed this year's incarnation of "Broadway Bares," the popular fundraiser that celebrated its 20th anniversary last night. It was, as always, a feast for the eyes; although I am guessing I was one of the only people in the crowd as (if not more) excited about the lighting system as the bodies.

Over the past year I've had the pleasure of getting to know Ms. Lindsay Mendez, Broadway starlet of the recent revival of Grease who is currently climbing up the ladder to the roof eight times a week in Everyday Rapture. It's no secret that her voice is one-of-a-kind; she's a powerhouse belter who can blow the ceiling off a venue as comfortably as she can bring nuance to a lyric.
Many fans know her as the voice behind Ryan Scott Oliver's "The Ballad of Sarah Berry," but I just know her as a loving friend. So I was extremely excited to get her in front of my camera for an afternoon in Central Park last week and I wanted to share a few of the shots from our session!
